JLM 1913/1921

A 13 track ambient album (28m 25s) — released July 19th 2019 on Som Recordings

"JLM 1913/1921" is a collection of personal impressions in sound, based on two of the earliest documents of Jerusalem on film dating as far as 1913 and 1921.

Created entirely within two weeks in late 2015, this mini-album is Markey Funk's exploration into the place that he's been calling his home over the last 20 years. The signature blend of tense cinematic funk and 60's psychedelia makes way for relaxed meditative electronica, which takes the listener on a haunting trip through day-to-day life scenes set in vaguely familiar places.

Recommended for fans of Ghost Box, Polytechnic Youth, BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan.

Good to hear this is coming out at last, I played several tracks at the first Further night and I’m glad it’s going to sit on people's shelves rather than in an archive. One of my favourite Markey Funk projects so far! - Strictly Kev DJ Food/Ninja Tune, UK

My beloved home town never sounded so beautiful! I'd like to move back, back in time and space to that cinematic Jerusalem scored by Markey Funk in such gentle way which emphasizes the memories and stories hold in every step, turn and alley. Jerusalem is a haunted city - Markey charges it with calm, optimistic and mysterious atmosphere. Modern library music at its best! - Mule Driver Confused Machines/The Models/Group Modular, Israel

Beautiful! Markey's prodigious work, both - as a soundtrack and as a full-length album. - Misha Panfilov Misha Panfilov Sound Combo/Estrada Orchestra, Estonia
